DIRECTOR

EMMANUEL MTUI

Emmanuel Mtui, born and raised on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, founded Rocky Africa & Eco Experience in 2019, a high-quality, locally-owned adventure travel company in Tanzania. His motivation for starting the company was to create jobs in his home village of Mshiri. By then, Emmanuel was already an expert mountain guide, having completed over 50 ascents of Mount Kilimanjaro and performed ultra-running feats, including single-day runs up and down the mountain. He remains committed to improving the livelihood of his community and preserving the mountain environment through responsible tourism.

Leadership extends beyond just knowing the mountain and guiding people to the summit. Emmanuel Mtui, founder and director of Rocky Africa, exemplifies this broader vision of leadership. Born as a natural leader, he has made a significant impact within his community, particularly through his involvement in the Rotaract Club, where he is a vocal advocate for environmental sustainability and conservation. Emmanuel’s expertise and advice are frequently sought after for community development projects. His leadership skills seamlessly translate to all Rocky Africa adventures, whether he’s personally guiding a climb, bike ride, or run, or managing his carefully selected Rocky Africa team.

ATHLETE

Emmanuel Mtui is renowned for his ability to run up and down Mount Kilimanjaro in one day, a challenge he often undertakes with clients. The fastest time he’s completed this feat is 14 hours, and the adventure has earned the nickname “Kilimanjaro One Shot.”

FRIEND

Emmanuel’s tireless dedication and creative approach to problem solving has begun to transform his village and inspire hope. When asked where he gets his inspiration, Emmanuel is quick to point to his supportive family, whom he credits with teaching him compassion, empathy, and an inability to walk away from a problem without trying to fix it. His kind and open personality has attracted a broad circle of friends who, in Emmanuel’s words, “lead their lives by a humanitarian principle.” His personal generosity inspires generosity in others, and thus, the shared infusion of resources and energy leads to improvement in the lives of many people.
