Day 1: Mweka to Wondo
Morning pick-up from your hotel and transfer to the trailhead. The trek begins on a lowland trail used by villagers to access their fields. As we hike, we pass small villages, forests, and traditional irrigation channels that have been used for over 100 years to grow coffee, bananas, and various fruits and vegetables.
At 5 km, we reach a high waterfall, a perfect spot to take a break before tackling the final demanding ascent to camp.

Day 2: Wondo to Tema
We begin the day among eucalyptus trees, marking the natural border between Kilimanjaro National Park and the villages. The trail ascends above homesteads, offering a glimpse of an ingenious hydro-powered electrical system.
As we continue, the terrain becomes more challenging, passing through a dramatic landscape of high ridges and deep valleys covered by tropical rainforest. If lucky, we may spot blue monkeys hanging in the trees above.
Tonight’s campsite is at a primary school with panoramic views over Moshi Town and the surrounding plains.

After a night camped at 1,900 meters, the trail leads through colorful villages, coffee and maize farms, and crystal-clear mountain rivers. We pass Kidia village, the first European settlement in the Kilimanjaro region.
The region features large Catholic and Lutheran churches, each with its own story of missionary work among the Chagga people.
